Drinking beer to change the world. Cheers to that! David Theuvenet makes it a reality with 7Billion Presidents. Building a movement of romantic capitalists, one business at a time.
So, David, how do you unfuck the world?
7 Billion Presidents believes we can stop climate change, and build a society with a 3 day workweek, within one generation. This by building one Romantic Capitalistic company at a time. Instead of generating billions of euro's profit for shareholders, we build companies where all profit is invested in clean energy plants. These energy plants are owned by everybody in the world. This means that all profit these energy plants generate is invested in building more clean energy plants till the whole world runs on clean energy owned by the people.
Tell us more about the first Romantic Capitalist company Beer For Mankind.
Beer For Mankind is the first Romantic Capitalistic company by 7 Billion Presidents. When we finished the concept of this new economic model, that we named Romantic Capitalism, we thought that the best way to show it to the world was by doing it ourselves. In that sense Beer For Mankind is the flagship company that shows how Romantic Capitalism works. I borrowed money from Foundation The Tipping Point and partnered up with the guys from Bruut bier in Amsterdam East. 4000 liter of extra pale ale was brewed, we sold it to local bars and with the profit we installed the first 7 solar panels of the first energy company, working title Clean Power to the People, owned by everybody in the world. 7 panels, 7 continents, 7 billion presidents :)

Which important message/ experience made you put your focus on making a positive impact in the world?
From a young age I have been thinking about how one lives a happy life. I believe that trying to make other people live a happier life is the easiest way to do this. Having a pragmatic attitude, being a dreamer and asking myself the question how I could contribute the most in the most fun way led me, together with many old and new friends, to build the 7 Billion Presidents movement.
What is your non-sustainable guilty pleasure?
Meeting awesome people while traveling. I do hope to compensate for all this CO2 I am responsible for by planting trees in the future. Yes, I know, talk is cheap.
